Articles of Faith

I was reading a friends blog today and clicked on the "about her" page and found something I had never heard of, "the Apostle's Creed". It appears to be similar to my faith's "Articles of Faith". I looked up the "Apostle's Creed" on wikipedia and there are several versions for different churches (ie Catholic, Lutheran etc). I'm not sure which version is the one she believes in. I am thankful to have a living prophet and apostles on the Earth. I am thankful to have an understanding that revelation has NOT been taken from the Earth that we still recieve revelation from a loving Father in Heaven. We have not been left to fend for ourselves. Below our basic beliefs.... The Articles of Faith of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression. We bel

Enrichment night in August!

I am excited, the ladies in my group are going to be able to demonstrate alternative cooking methods at our Enrichment night. We will show how to make things in an applebox oven , dutch oven and a wonderbox. All without electricity! WOHOO I still have to make my wonderbox....time to get to work! To make an apple box oven go http://www.preparingtoday.com/Literature/Apple%20Box%20Oven.pdf A wonderbox is similar to a hay box . But a wonderbox is made from cotton material then it is filled with an insulating material (usually bean bag pellets). there is a base which forms a box and a lid. You bring the food to a boil then place in the wonderbox and it cooks from the stored heat. For enrichment we will be making RICE in our wonderbox. Chicken teryaki in the dutch oven and dessert in the apple box oven. If your in the neighborhood let me know ;)

The heat is on...

For the past little while I have been hosting emergency preparedness classes. I did a few in May then started up again in late June. We have done wheat, cheese (which no one showed for), laundry detergent and hand sanitizer, alcohol stoves and apple box ovens. We have been having fun. The class is mainly a "learn with me". Most of the things we are doing are things I am interested in learning. Some I have been doing for a while, like the laundry soap and the cheese. But in general it is a way for a group of us to get together and learn together. I ama visual learner and need to SEE things done. I have had the desire and felt a need to help others where I could. This seems to be the place for me. I ahve really enjoyed it. Well, except my lack of sleep on Tuesday nights. Last night after helping my mom move, I listened to a message. It was from a lady in a different ward who had heard about Scott and I from a friend and wants to announce our "classes" in

WOW! What a day! I am so tired from yesterday's fun filled adventure. Good thing this isn't a weekly adventure or I just might die of the excitement. First off, we tie dyed matching shirts the night before we went. Two years ago when we went we had orange tie dyed shirts, this year I chose "Bahama Blue". Each time we have done this people have gawked and thought it was the coolest idea. I think I stole it. Hehehe , not sure who from, so I can't claim the idea. But I think I take the prize for do ing it the night before. Since I haven't seemed to master the blogger picture inserting, I am hoping to insert a slide show at the end. When we went on so many rides it was awesome. The weather was very accommodating to say the least! Some of the day it was over cast! WOHOO ! The lines were great. Only the Log Flume Rattle Snake Rapids were rather long. My kids seem to me more like me than Scott. They like the spinning and twirly rides. Poor Scott didn't go on ve

Blessings from Following the Prophet

Yesterday our lesson in Relief Society was from the June Ensign First Presidency message. ( http://tiny.cc/5cNpP ) I LOVE President Eyring . His words of counsel are so profound. July's message is similar ( http://tiny.cc/mYNvw ). Someone in RS mentioned yesterday how in the past conferences Pres. Hinckely had been telling us to get out of debt and now the prices of everything are going up. This is not news to me, he told us in 1998 about 7yrs of plenty and 7yrs of famine. BUT it was kind of a....DO YOU THINK these two messages are preparing us for something? Then I think about what is going on in California. The fires started right around the time the same sex marriages started. The First Presidency issued a letter to be read encouraging people to stand up AGAINST the ruling and vote against it in November. Some gay members are saying it is the "last straw" and they are leaving the church. UGH? The doctrine has NEVER changed, same sex relationships ha
