They don't get my looks but....

they get my eyes! Today I took Lindsey and Dejah to the eye doctor. Lindsey approached me a few days ago and said it was hard for her to see the white board at school. She made it very light and was acting as if it was no big deal. I WANTED to ignore it. I started wearing glasses in kindergarten. I guess the fact she is almost 11 should make me feel good, right? Today, she was really excited that she could see. You know the big thing they put in front of you to test your vision? She was like "COOL I can see!". Poor thing! She got to pick out some cute blue frames. She is actually excited about them. I hope she thrives on being able to see and doesn't get hung up on the fact she "has to wear glasses". Dejah will be needing glasses soon too. She has astigmatism too (like Lindsey and I). She is only at about 20/25-30 or so. The doc said he doesn't recommend glasses unless you are at 20/40 or higher. So she is spared the glasses for another year o

Does she look like me?

I was talking to my sister in law today and she thinks Lindsey looks like me. She saw a picture of me my sophmore year in highschool and thought she saw Lindsey in me. What do you think? SEVENTEEN DAYS till she is 11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SIgh!

Valentine Week

This week has been a fun one for me. I decided last week I wanted to do somehting special for Scott all week. Last Saturday we went out on our Valentine's Date. My mom watched the kids and we went to dinner and a movie. Our date was done, yet I wanted to so something little each day. I found the idea at Familyfun.com. Monday was "Orange you glad I love you?" I made him his favorite cookies of all time and took them to him. Orange slice cookies! Tuesday it was "I'm nuts about you" and I gave him pistachios, his favorite nut. Today, Wednesday, he got a "Honeydew" list. Okay, I didn't give HIM a list, I gave him an opportunity to write a list for me. I did give him stipulations though, I do have 30#s of beef to can and also I have a cold. Thursday, is "You're always in my heart" and he will get some artichoke hearts, another favorite. Yumm! Friday is "Olive you", I'm going to find him so gourmet greek olives,

Type A personality?

I was talking to Alicia the other day and how she likes to have things planned out. I don't. I guess it is a good thing the Gospel has certain guidelines to keep me in check. Okya, I'm not that bad. LOL! It got me thinking about how I am so scattered brained. IF I planned things better I bet I wouldn't be as bad. AS BAD.... this morning Journey came in with her groundhog she made at pre school and said "we all have to make the same thing, why?" Hu oh! She is like me. She was saying she wants to do something different. So I guess I need to explain to her she can still be different. She can color her groundhog brown or purple. She wants to color it "right", so brown it is. It did have blue eyes though. :) She is feeling like she has to do everything like everyone else. She is definately different and has a streak of independence that runs deep, yet she has a dominate streak that wants to please. I hope she can find a good balance of it.

ICE!

Image
So what happens when your gutter spout is full of ice and the sun melts the snow on the roof?   The water drips forming icicles. Then the water also melts and drips to the ground below.   This is what happens when this happens on the NORTH face of your house. It becomes a hazard! I need a big orange cone! I have learned from past experience to stay away from ice. This "puddle" is right in front of my van, so I walk around the van to get to the garbage cans. BUT the exahust of my van will drip water (melted ice) and ice will form behind the van. So to all my friends and neighbors....beware of my driveway! Next year I will think of something to prevent this hazard. I bet I said that last year too. HMMMMM!
