Senior white belt

Dejah had been wanting to take Karate for a year or so. It is rather funny thinking she wants to take a martial art. She is so timid everywhere but home. In July she started taking Taekwondo in Payson. Her teacher, Master Hanuman is amazing. He was a monk in India and he is VERY formal in his teaching. The kids learn the "old" style. I'm not sure how it is in other classes so I can't compare. I just know how he is with the kids. He is strict and kind. I'm not sure when he started teaching in Payson. His background is intensive and after all that he comes to teach kids. He has a special way. I have been impressed.

Dejah has really excelled and has become very good at her forms. She tested on the 28th and passed. She did amazing! She was very crisp in her form. I was amazed she did so well under pressure. She is developing into such a lovely girl. Last Wednesday he did the belt ceremony. To give you an idea on how committed he is to these kids, he was in a car accident in Spanish Fork about an hour (?) before class started and was taken to the hospital (Payson) via ambulance for observation. He has broken his back and neck in the past so they were worried about him. They put him through CT scans to rule out any reinjuries. They wanted to keep him but he told them he HAD to leave. They got a ride from the hospital to the gym for class. He got there the last ten minutes of class to present the belts. Unfortunately his dobok was in is car along the road in Spanish Fork. He had a concussion and back injuries BUT WANTED to be there to present the belts. He was!

When he presented Dejah's belt he told her "I think you are very smart. You have a natural talent and your smarts will make you better than me one day if you stick to this. You have excelled faster than my other students". She wasn't impressed, but I was. She is a very smart girl.
